I am an Independent Celebrant. I am not restricted by any belief or faith and can, therefore, include in a ceremony what is important to you whether that be religious, non-religious, spiritual, or otherwise. Neither am I restricted by location, time, content, or style. A celebrant-led ceremony has much more flexibility and is created around your wishes, your story, and what is important to you. You get the best of all worlds!
A Registrar led civil ceremony is prescribed by law and is restricted in content and is more or less standard for all couples, only the names are changed. Religious elements cannot be included (e.g. hymns, poems, readings or music) and you are limited to time and place (i.e when a Registrar is available, and venues must be ‘approved/licensed’ for weddings)
Humanism is a belief system and a Humanist Celebrant creates purely non-religious ceremonies in line with their own beliefs. They don’t believe in the supernatural (Gods/Deities) so cannot include rituals, anything spiritualistic or religious in a ceremony.
If you are undecided about using an Independent Celebrant for your wedding or partnership check out this page to help you make up your mind
A note about the legal bit:
For your marriage/civil partnership to be recognised by law, you must complete the legal formalities at a register office. It only requires you and your partner and a couple of witnesses to attend but you do need to give at least 28 days’ notice. The legal formalities only take 10 – 15 minutes and can be done before or after your ceremony.
Weddings, Partnerships, Commitment and Handfasting Ceremonies
There is no rule book for YOUR ceremony!
It is YOUR day so if you want less formal, fewer restrictions, fewer limitations but want more choices, more fun, and a ceremony that feels more 'YOU' here is where you can find it.
As an Independent Celebrant, I am not restricted to the regulations of Church or Registrar. The only limitations for your ceremony are permission from the land or venue owner and your imagination (and common decency of course 😊)
You choose WHEN, WHERE, and HOW you want your ceremony; indoors or outdoors (your venue does not need to be licensed for weddings); you can include music, readings, poetry; you can write your own vows and promises; and if you want a ritual check out this page for ideas.
You can even choose who to have involved in the ceremony which can even include your pets.
I will give you a ceremony that reflects your wishes and personality, a ceremony that makes you feel comfortable but excited, relaxed yet filled with anticipation. There will be smiles, laughter, and probably tears of joy but all these will give you memories to cherish.
Your choice: traditional and timeless, quirky and just a bit mad, or something in-between?

Renewal of Vows
Say “I DO” all over again. There are many reasons to renew your vows. It could be to celebrate an anniversary, to re-commit after going through a rough patch, or just because you want to show how much you still love each other. Whatever your reason, renewing your vows is a beautiful way of showing your enduring love for each other.
You can have a personalised ceremony just how you want it; you can re-live your love story, rededicate your rings or exchange new ones, have friends or family read poems, you can have a sing-along or music of your choice and at the end, you will have a commemorative copy of the ceremony as a keepsake. Small and simple for family and friends or large and loud to proclaim your love to the world, the choice is yours.
From £225 (see note below regarding expenses)
Please Note: additional charges apply for travel and accommodation. Round-trip journeys in excess of 50 miles will be charged at 45p per mile and accommodation (if required) will be charged at cost
